High Court restrains Tamil weekly
Chennai, Mar 16 (UNI) Madras High Court today restrained Tamil weekly ''Nakkeeran'', from publishing in its future editions, any defamatory articles, caricatures, news items or cartoons against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and her close associate Sasikala Natarajan.
Granting an interim injunction on a suit filed by Ms Jayalalithaa and Ms Sasikala Natarajan, Mr Justice M Chockalingam said the court was of the opinion that a prima facie case was made out from the materials available, to restrain the magazine till the disposal of the suit.
In their suit, Ms Jayalalithaa and Sasikala sought Rs two crore as damages from the magazine for having published defamatory articles in various issues and an interim prayer to restrain the magazine from publishing such articles in future.
