Govt gives priority on peace and development

Kohima, Mar 16 (UNI) Nagaland Governor Shyamal Datta today said the government gives highest priority to the process of development under the slogan 'peace for development and development for peace'.

Addressing the opening day of the week long budget session of the 10th Nagaland Legislative Assembly here today Mr Datta said his government has completed three successful and productive years in the office and achievements and initiatives of various developmental works have been published in a booklet.

On the agriculture and allied sector, the governor informed the house that the foograin production has crossed the four lakh tonne mark during the current year with the adoption of the policy of commercial scale cultivation and the buy back policy of the government.

He said to give a fillip to the agricultural sector, his government has declared the year 2006 as the 'year of the farmers' with year long programmes and activities to give maximum benefit to them.

As another step of his government to develop the agri skills, the state is hosting the first NE Agri Expo along with an investors' meet, which is being co-sponsored by the Centre and the state government along with the Confederation of Indian Industries.
