Four file nomination for Rajya Sabha election

Kolkata, Mar 16 (UNI) Three CPI (M) candidates and one Forward Bloc member today filed their nomination for the coming biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal.

Incidentally the biennial election for five Rajya Shaba seats, which have fallen vacant following the expiry of the term of as many members, has been slated on March 28.

Those who filed their papers to the state assembly secretariat are Mr Saman Pathak, Mr Barun Mukherjee, Mr Moinul Hasan from CPI (M) and Mr Tapan Kr Sen of Forward Bloc.

Besides these four candidates, one opposition candidate most likely from the Trinamool Congress, is likely to submit papers before the last date of filing of nomination tomorrow.

Scrutiny will be done the next day.
