Emami rolls out new talc,targets Rs 200 crore business by 2007
Kolkata, Mar 16 (UNI) Personal and healthcare major Emami today announced the all India launch of a unique body talc "Navratna Cool Talc" after years of research, besides putting the sales target to Rs 200 crore by 2008.
Speaking to newspersons here to mark the launch of the product, Emami Director Harsha V Agarwal said following a very encouraging pre-launch market survey they were confident of reaching the targetted sales figure within the next two years.
By the end of next financial year Emani proposed to sale Navratna branded products to the tune of over Rs 50 crore, Mr Agarwal said replying to a related query.
He said presently the size of Indian talcom powder market was to the tune of Rs 600 crore and it was growing at the rate of 10 to 12 per cent per annum.
"We have targetted to achieve 20 to 23 per cent share of the domestic market in this regard", Mr Agarwal said replying to another query.
He said though Emami which presently had three fully automated plants in Uttaranchal, West Bengal(Kolkata) and in Guwahati to cater to the pan India market, they had no plan to go for any capacity expansion further.
He said in order to grab the all India market in a more meaningful manner Emani had recently roped in Bollywood start Shah Rukh Khan as the brand ambassador for the Navratna Cool Talc and a massive advertisement campaign featuring SRK would be launched next week with an annual budget of Rs ten crore.
The ad campaign would feature a wide range of 'conventional and non-conventional media campaign including those in print, television, radio and in the form of road shows, Mr Agarwal informed.
About his export plan, the Director of Rs 1,000 crore group company said though presently they were concentrating on the domestic market, soon they would like to spread the wings overseas.
However, a number of other Emani products like Boroplus and Navratna Oil were doing excellent business abroad with the last year's turonover from overseas business crossing the Rs 230 crore mark.
A number of other products in different healthcare segments were also in the pipeline for their rollout before this year end, Mr Agarwal said but refused to elaboarate further at the present juncture.
