Corpus for 'Kuchipudi' dance fest announced

Vijayawada, Mar 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Commissioner K V Ramanachary announced a corpus fund of Rs 10 lakh for Kuchipudi dance festivals.

Participating in the 'saddasu' at the on-going Kuchipudi Festival at Kuchipudi Village yesterday, Mr Ramanachary said steps will be taken to treat the three-day festival on equal footing with other dance festivals held in different parts of the country.

The Commissioner said the world-renowned Kuchipudi dance form was a combination of music, dance and literature and exhorted the younger generation to protect its legacy.

He emphasised the need for active participation of Endowment and Culture Departments along with Telugu University and Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD) in promoting the festival.
