Cabinet approves PURA pilot projects
New Delhi, Mar 16 (UNI) The Cabinet today gave ex-post facto approval to the pilot scheme of Provision of Urban facilities in Rural Areas (PURA) in seven districts, one in each state.
The project was initially approved in January 2004 and funds were allocated in 2005 for implementation during 2005-06.
Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters that once the pilot scheme was completed, there would be an evaluation and then the concerned Ministry would come back to the Cabinet for further approval.
The seven districts are Somitpur (Assam), Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh), Muzaffarabad (Bihar), Hingoli (Maharashtra), Jagatsinghpur (Orissa), Bhilwara (Rajasthan) and Itawa (Uttar Pradesh).
