BJP candidates file nomination

Ranchi, Mar 16 (UNI) BJP candidate S S Ahluwalia today filed nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha election to be held for two vacant seats on March 28.

The last date of filing of nomination paper is tomorrow. Scrutiny will be done on March 18 and the last date of withdrawal is March 20.

Accompanied by Chief Minister Arjun Munda and state party president Jadunath Pandey, Mr Ahluwalia filed the nomination before the returning officer and assembly secretary Sitaram Sahni. He is seeking re-election for the second term.

The election was necessitated as the term of Mr Ahluwalia and Mr R K Anand (Congress) expires.

The opposition is, however, yet to announce the name of its candidate. The opposition in the assembly can jointly elect only one member.
