Bhardwaj files papers from Haryana for Rajya Sabha polls
Chandigarh, Mar 16 (UNI) Union Law Minister Hans Raj Bhardwaj today filed his nomination papers to fill the lone seat from Haryana in the Rajya Sabha in the March 28 elections.
The seat would fall vacant on the retirement of sitting member of Rajya Sabha, Mr Faquir Chand.
Mr Bhardwaj, accompanied by State chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Congress President Bhajan Lal, party working President Ram Parkash and a number of ministers and legislators, filed three sets of papers before Vidhan Sabha Secretary Sumit Kumar, who is the returning officer for the election.
The process of filing of nominations started on March 10 with the issuing of notification by the Election Commission. The last date for filing of nominations is March 17. The scrutiny will be held the next day. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 20.
Polling, if necessary will be held on March 28 from 0900 hours to 1600 hours in the old committee room of Haryana Vidhan Sabha secretariat here.
