Azad highlights role of press in growth process

Jammu, Mar 16 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said print media has tremendous response and enjoys its own importance despite the boom in electronic media.

Launching Jammu editions of the Kashmir Images and Business Images here last evening,Mr Azad said the print media has been playing an important role in dissemination of programmes and policies of the government and seeking inter-alia feedback from the people about implementation and impact thereof.

Mr Azad congratulated chief editor of the newspaper Bashir Manzar for bringing out the Jammu edition of the paper and also for launching Business Images from here. He described it as a good effort to strengthen relations between various regions of the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig highlighted the role of media in socio-political and development process of a society and exuded confidence that Kashmir Images would act as an important medium in bringing people and the government close to each other by putting their points of views across.

Legislative Assembly members Tara Chand, Mr Ghulam Hassan Mir, Director Information Farooq Renzu, media persons and prominent citizens attended the function.
