Australia sweeps women's 200m medley medals
MELBOURNE, Mar 16: Stephanie Rice led an Australian clean sweep of the medals in the women's 200 metres individual medley at the Commonwealth Games today.
Rice won a thrilling three-way battle with her compatriots Brooke Hanson and Lara Carroll to grab the gold in two minutes, 12.90 seconds.
Hanson took silver in 2:13.62 while Carroll finished with the bronze in 2:13.86. The trio finished almost two seconds clear of the next finisher.
Rice, 17, is one of the youngest swimmers on the Australian team and is competing at her first international meet.
