AP govt to set up 'IT district' in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh government has initiated steps to establish 'Information Technology (IT) district''in a sprawling 424 acres of land at Hitech City to make the city the biggest hub of 'IT business centre' in the country.
According to official sources here, the government has alloted 424 acres of land at Rayadurgam to set up the IT district which would have 10 blocks providing space for establishing IT Centres, accommodation facilities and training centres. A special block would also be set up for outsourcing activities, providing space for foreign firms and IT enabled services.
To achieve the target of procuring Rs 5,000 crore funds from the IT business firms by selling the space, the government has targeted to procure Rs 3,000 crore in first year and Rs 2,000 crore in the second. IT district project would be completed in two years.
The sources said Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) would function as a nodal agency for the project which would deposit the earnings in with the government exchequer.
The government has awarded the project designs and planning works to Singapore based Sarbana company which would submit a detailed report to the government at the earliest, the sources added.
