Srinagar, Mar 16 (UNI) Airtel, India's leading mobile service provider, today said its cellular network in Jammu and Kashmir will receive a further boost with the commissioning of 12 additional Points Of Interconnectivity (POIs).

An Airtel spokesman here said the commissioning of additional PIOs will improve the connectivity between Airtel and the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL).

''With these POIs, the mobile network has become more strong and improved the landline connectivity between Airtel and other service providers,'' he added.

The spokesman said Airtel is continuously expanding its coverage in Jammu and Kashmir and has presence in 12 out of the 14 districts in the state.

At present, Airtel has a total of 282 cell sites across Jammu and Kashmir, he said, adding these include 133 in Jammu, 145 in Kashmir and four in Leh.

''Our latest endevour is to provide strong mobile coverage on the Srinagar-Jammu National highway besides augmenting the network in existing areas,'' the spokesman said.

Airtel's subscriber base has already crossed the two lakh figure in Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
