38 BLFM militants surrender in north Tripura

Agartala, Mar 16 (UNI) Altogether 38 Bru Liberation Front of Mizoram cadres have surrendered before the Assam Rifles at Kanchanpur in North Tripura, official sources said here today.

The Assam Rifles in coordination with the Mizoram Government, has made arrangements for rehabilitation of the surrendered militants The government has also sent a police team to Kanchanpur in north Tripura to escort the BLFM cadres to their home.

The BLFM is a faction of the Bru National Liberation Front (BNLF), which following an agreement with the Mizoram government surrendered last year.

The BLFM militants, mostly trained in Bangladesh, led by their self-styled vice-president A Zoramthanga deposited one each of Self-Loading Rifle, .303-rifle, two foreign made revolvers, ten improvised guns besides some grenades, explosive materials and a large quantity of ammunition yester.

The surrendered militants included Self-Styled Deputy Chief of Army Staff and Self-Styled General Secretary of the BLFM.
