1 killed, 4 injured as striking employees clash

Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) One man was killed and four others, including police personnel, were injured in a clash between striking workers at Ghansoli in Navi Mumbai, about 40 kilometres from here today.

Navi Mumbai Police Control room sources said employees of Standard Alkali were on strike. There was a scuffle between two groups this morning and stones were pelted at one another and also at the police personnel deployed there, they said.

Police opened fire to disperse the feuding groups. However, it is not yet clear whether it was police firing which had claimed the life of the company employee.
