Two Lashkar militants killed, Hizb ultras nabbed in J

Srinagar, Mar 15 (UNI) Two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants, including a district commander, were killed while security forces apprehended as many Hizb ultras and seized arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, an official spokesman said today.

He said security forces, on a specific information, conducted search operation at Chandhara near Pampore, about 15 km from here, late last night.

However, when the security forces were about to storm a particular house, militants, hiding there, opened fire on them.

The fire was returned and in the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed. The house was also damaged in the shoot-out.

The slain ultras were identified Zubair Ahmad Lone, Lashkar's district commander and Abu Talha, a foreigner, the spokesman said, adding two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were seized from them.

He said security forces apprehended two Hizbul Mujahideen militants at Kalamchakla and Wiijhama villages in the frontier district of Kupwara last evening in two different operations.

An AK rifle, three magazines, one pistol, five AGL grenades, one wireless set and 45 rounds were seized from them, he added.
