Secret of playing spinners has been positive approach: Pietersen
Mumbai, Mar 15 (UNI) England are in a positive frame of mind and are confident that they can win the final Test beginning here from March 18 to square the series, middle order batsman Kevin Pietersen said here today.
Speaking to reporters this afternoon, Pietersen said that he knew batting at number four, one notch higher than he normally bat, has thrusted a lot more responsibility on his shoulders. ''I think upto now I have played responsibly,'' he said.
Stating that he likes to bat when the chips were down and the best comes out of him in such situations, Pietersen added that he was angry at himself for getting out in Mohali.
''I knew I was shaping up well and the team needed me to go on and get a big score, that is why I was really really disappointed when I got out,'' he added.
Speaking about the way he has played spinners in India, he said that against Australia in England he did not try to dominate the spinners.
''Here, however, I have been positive from the beginning, not letting the spinners dictate terms to me. Even in defence I have been positive going right forward or back to play the ball. I have not used any half measures and it has shown.'' On the loss at Mohali, he said young pacer Munaf Patel bowled beautifully at speeds of 140-145 kmph consistently.
''However, more than Munaf, it was the pressure exerted by Anil Kumble which really had us in a soup.'' MORE UNI GS MAZ PDS BD1750
