One village in each block to be developed as model village

Jammu, Mar 15 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided to develop one model village in each block of the state under the Rs 24000 crores Prime Minister Re-Construction plan .

Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig today informed the Legislative Council that the PM Re-Construction plan would be implemented both in central and state sectors. About Rs 3536 crores have been allotted for state sponsored schemes and about Rs 20601 crore for central schemes, he said.

Mr Baig said, an amount of Rs 411.77 crores was sanctioned last year against which Rs 266.77 crores was released by the centre. An amount of Rs 669 crores has been released during the current year against Rs 1199.57 crores for the state sector.

Mr Baig said, this package is for the overall development of the state without giving preference to a particular district. One village in each block has been identified to be developed as a model village envisaging an investment of Rs 1.20 crores under Pime Minister's package, he said.

Similarly most of the districts will be covered under this scheme for opening new degree colleges and Industrial training Institutes (ITIS). The tourism development authorities have also been created to cover many districts of the state, he said.

In transmission and distribution (power sector), an amount of Rs.1006.51 crore will be spent over a period of four years under the reconstruction plan.

The amount is proposed to be spent on the construction of grid stations and transmission lines of magnitude 132kv and 220kv at various places in the state.

He said, an action plan for the construction of 1000 micro hydel electric projects has been finalised by the army. Of this, 300 projects have been taken up under ''operation Sadhbhavana'', and 265 projects under the Ministry of Non Conventional Energy Sources .

About 100 projects are to be constructed in Ladakh, 550 in Kashmir and 350 in Jammu, Mr Baig added. Rajouri and Poonch districts have also been covered in this package.
