Notices issued to K'taka Govt, KMF

Bangalore, Mar 15 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today ordered issuance of notices to the State Government, Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers Union (KMF) and its president H D Revanna on a writ petition, seeking an inquiry into the utilisation of land acquired for KMF and a direction to the authorities not to lease the same.

Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Mr Justice V G Sabhahit issued the notices on a petition, filed by former Minister and Congress Legislator H Vishwanath.

The petitioner submitted that BDA had acquired about 46 acres of land at Nagashetty Halli and Bhoopasandra of Bangalore North Taluk to house 'Mother Dairy' of KMF. But as Mother Dairy was already housed in Yelahanka, the acquired land remained unutilised. The land was proposed to be leased to a trust called Nandini Dairy Farmers Welfare Trust, formed in 2004, for 30 years at Rs 100 per acre per year. There were also reports that the land was to be used for a medical college, being run by one of its Directors. The land could not be used for a purpose other than for which it was acquired, he contended.
