No bird flu case in MP

Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) Tests of 1,750 samples in Madhya Pradesh has not detected the deadly H5N1 avian flu strain, Veterinary Commissioner Rajesh Rajora said today.

The state faced no threat from the bird flu virus at present, he said vigilance has been intensified in border areas adjoining Maharashtra and Gujarat, where bird flu cases had been detected, he added.

Poultry products from outside the state are being allowed only after complete medical examination.

The state-capital based High Security Animal Disease Laboratory had confirmed the presence of the deadly virus in four samples from Jalgaon in Maharashtra.
