More snow and rain in HP

Shimla, Mar 15 (UNI) The tribal valleys and other high-altitude areas hills of Himachal Pradesh reeled under intense cold wave conditions after receiving another spell of moderate to heavy snowfall, while the mid and lower hills were lashed by widespread rain during the last 24 hrs.

The high altitude areas of Kinnuar, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Mandi, Chamba and Kangra districts experienced another spell of fresh snowfall, while other parts of the state were lashed by heavy rains, bringing down the minimum and maximum temperatures in the state.

Rekong Peo and Keylong, the district headquarters of Kinnuar and Lahaul-Spiti, were under four and 10 inches of snow respectively up till 1500 hrs and sources said the higher reaches had received a heavy snowfall during the last 24 hrs.

The famous tourist resorts of Kufri, Narkanda and Mashobra in Shimla district had received three, four and two inches of snow respectively, while Manali in Kullu district was under four inches of snow.

The Jakhu Hills, overlooking the Shimla town, had received two inches of snow and local people said snowflakes were seen at various other places of the town.

Solang Nullah, Dhundi and Patsio in Himachal were covered under snow, while places including Shimla, Rampur, Sundernagar, Sunni, Bhuntar, Sujanpur Tira, Guler and Gamrur, Kangra, Bilaspur and Hamirpur town were lashed by rains.
