KRC project: Railway Horata Samiti to resort to rail roko
Udupi, Mar 15 (UNI) The Railway Horata Samiti of Byndoor in Udupi district will resort to rail roko on April 17 to protest against the failure of the Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) to upgrade Byndoor Railway station into a fullfledged one and rename it as Sri Mookambika Road Station.
Addressing a press conference here, Samiti Honarary President B Jagannath Shetty and President H Subraya Sherugar said that despite several representations made by the Samiti and the Byndoor Taluk Formation and Development Committee to the KRC, the Railway Ministry and the state government, except for oral assurance, nothing tangible had been done so for in this regard.
Disappointed with the luke warm response of the Centre and State government towards the project, the Samiti decided to stop the Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapuram Rajdhani Express for an hour on April 17 when it arrived at the Byndoor at 1530 hrs. Notice had also been issued to the KRC Chairman and Managing Director in this regard, they added.
