Kashmir highway reopens today
Srinagar, Mar 15 (UNI) Traffic on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, suspended after landslides yesterday, was resumed today, official sources said.
They said all the stranded vehicles, including trucks loaded with essential commodities and passenger vehicles, were allowed to leave towards their respective destination.
Traffic from Srinagar was also allowed today, a traffic police official said.
He said the highway, the only road linking Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, was closed yesterday in the afternoon after heavy rains triggered landslides between Ramban and Ramsu area.
The Border Roads Organaistion (BRO) responsible for the maintenance of the highway removed the landslides from the highway.
