Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 15 (UNI) A hyena which strayed into the District Collector's office here today gave some anxious moments to officials and visitors before Forest officials caught it.

The animal was badly injured after some people stoned it and was later shifted to a animal rescue centre in Visakhapatnam for treatment.

Forest officials said the incident occurred this afternoon when some officials noticed the animal in the office compound and informed the forest officials who rushed to the spot and caught it.

The animal had mouth and head injuries after falling into a trap laid by some villagers to keep away wild animals from entering their fields.

The Forest Department staff had fed the weak animal and kept it in a room in the Forest office. But the animal managed to escape.

Terrified at the sight of the wild animal, some people threw stones at it mauling the already injured animal.
