Honour for K'taka Commissioner's office for disabled

Bangalore, Mar 15 (UNI) The Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities has been adjudged the 'Best State' for 2005-06, for its practices and pro-active policy in implementing various provisions of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995.

A statement here today said the office was declared 'Model State' last year regarding implementation of the Act for emulation by other States.

The Office, under the Union Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry had conducted a national review meeting in February for ascertaining the status of the implementation of the Act.
