Homage paid to Sikh pioneer in Kochi

Kochi, Mar 15 (UNI) Homage was paid here today to Sardar Harbans Singh Sethi, one of the earliest Sikh settlers in Kochi and a leading businessman, who made Kerala his home.

Mr Sethi, who come to Kochi in the early 1960s, had started his business with an automobile spare parts company, which he later expanded to several other enterprises.

He had died here on March nine at the age of 70. He was suffering from Parkinson's Disease for the past 14 years but had remained active till the end.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter and four sons.

An 'akhand paath' (non-stop reading of Guru Granth Sahab), which was started in his memory at his residence on Monday, was concluded here this afternoon.

A community lunch was served afterwards to nearly 250 people.
