High alert in East UP on Holi

Siddharthnagar, Mar 15 (UNI) A high security alert has been sounded in 11 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh in view of Holi, particularly after the twin blasts in Varanasi last week.

Inspector General of Police (Gorakhpur Zone) Vinay Verma said here today that in view of the recent blast in Varanasi, a high security alert has been sounded in 11 districts of the zone, especially those bordering Nepal.

Special security arrangements have been made at all crowded public places including bus stations, markets and railway stations, he added. Search was also being conducted on all trains passing through these districts, Mr Verma said.

Meanwhile, special police teams have been constituted and deployed in sensitive areas of Siddharthnagar district including Badhani, Etwa, Bansi, Pathra and Dumariaganj.
