CPI demands government provide MSP for tomatoes
Hyderabad, Mar 15 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI's) state unit today demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government provide Minimum Support Price (MSP) for tomatoes and take steps to buy them from market committees immediately.
Pointing out that tomato growers were facing problems due to lack of support price in the Rayalseema region, CPI state Secretary K Narayana said the government had the responsiblity of protecting farmers from declining tomato prices in markets.
He demanded that the government announce exgratia to the bereaved family of Keshava Reddy, tomato grower in Rami Reddy village of Chittor district, who committed suicide because of lack of MSP recently, a press release said here.
