Coastal padayatra for Tsunami victims

Chennai, Mar 15 (UNI) The Campaign for Equity and Equality in Tsunami Rehabilitation (CEETR) will organise a coastal 'padayatra' from Kanyakumari to Chennai to highlight non-implementation of tsunami rehabilitation measures for affected people in 13 coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.

CEETR's State Convenor Then Pandiyan said the rally would begin on March 17 at Kanyakumari and culminate in suburban Pazhaverkadu on May 1 next.

The yatra will cover Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur, with wayside meetings, and demonstrations en route to draw the Central and State Governments' attention to their long pending demands.
