Car misused for luring voters impounded

Pondicherry, Mar 15 (UNI) Pondicherry Election Department today seized a car used for distribution of sares and other items to lure voters in violation of model code of conduct.

Pondicherry District Collector-cum District Election Officer Theva Neethi Das in a release here said Revenue Officals found the vehicle in Nellithoppe constituency yesterday.

However, it sped away before police could reach it. The vehicle was, however, impounded with police assistance today. The car belonged to an AIADMK leader, he said.

Mr Das exhorted political parties to refrain from violating model code of conduct for elections and cooperate with the administration in the conduct of fair and free polls.
