BSF personnel clash with locals in Cooch Behar

Cooch Behar, Mar 15 (UNI) At least one BSF personnel and four civilians were injured in a clash at Mekhliganj in the district today, police said.

Superintendent of Police Jagmohan here said a heated altercation between the BSF jawans and some locals brewed when the former refused to make payment after purchasing some goods from a shop.

It took a turn for worse when the jawans went berserk, ransacking four shops. The incident infuriated the locals and a clash ensued in which four civilians and a jawan sustained injuries.

A posse of police had rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.

Investigations are on.
