Avinas Sanas arrested, remanded in police custody till March 21
Mumbai, Mar 15 (UNI) Anti corruption bureau sleuths today arrested suspended Secretariat Assistant Avinas Sanas for allegedly possessing wealth in excess to his known sources of income.
Sanas was produced before the court of Additional Sessions Judge (Ms) S P Mahajan who remanded him in police custody till March 21.
Sanas was arrested at about 0800 hours today in the corruption case. Anti corruption bureau sleuths had earlier raided his residences at Thane and Ghatkopar Saturday and Sunday last.
While seeking the police custody of Sanas, Additional Public Prosecutor R V Kini told the court that property worth around Rs 79 lakh was detected in his name during the searches at his residence on Saturday and Sunday.
Sanas is already embroiled in the 1999 multi-crore Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination scam and had to spend 41 months in jail. The Supreme Court had recently granted him bail on March 4.
