Apang lauds Centre for materialising border trade centre

Itanagar, Mar 15 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang lauded the role of Centre in opening a Border Trade Centre at Nampong in Changlang district of the state.

According to the official sources, speaking on the occasion of foundation stone laying ceremony held yesterday, Mr Apang said the Centre was made possible due to the combined efforts of the state as well as Union government.

''It will open our door for South East Asia where 50 per cent of world consumers live and it will also help us access the commodities required for our further enhancement,'' the Chief Minister said.

Highlighting border trade prospect of the state he said, ''on Indo-Bhutan border, we have Namtsering, on Indo-China, we have Kenzamane, Mechuka, Gelling, Kibhito, and on Indo-Myanmar, we have points on Vijaynagar, Lazo areas.'' ''With the opening of these places as Border Trade Centres, we can transform our economy,'' he said.

Speaking on the occasion Minister for Trade and Commerce and Textile and Handicrafts, Industries Lombo Tayeng said, today is the historical occasion in the history of international trade in the State and in the region.
