AP to take steps to make RIA effective: Official

Vijayawada, Mar 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Commissioner Ramanachary today said the state will take all steps to implement the Right to Information Act (RIA) effectively in the state.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Ramanachary said it was the duty of the government deparments to furnish the information sought by the people.

Under the Act, he said anyone seeking information could make an application and the concerned departments should act on it within 30 days.

Those living below poverty line need not pay any fee to obtain information and in this connection necessary steps would be taken to bring awarness among the people on the Act.

The state government was conducting training programmes for the officials on the implementation of the act, he added.
