AP CM offers prayers at TTD centre

Chennai, Mar 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today worshipped Lord Venkateswara at the TTD's Information Centre here.

Explaining the TTD Dharma Prachara Parishad (DPP) programmes and welfare activities for the needy, TTD Executive Officer A P V N Sarma said the TTD had been conducting Srinivasa Kalyanam outside Tirumala, involving all sections of people, for the welfare of humankind, the TTD said in a release here.

He informed the Chief Minister there was very good response to Srinivasa Kalyanam in Nellore, Sulurpeta, Pondicherry and Chennai and added the festival would be organised in Hyderabad and other places.

He also told Dr Reddy that people who could not afford to travel to Tirumala would get an opportunity to witness Srinivasa Kalyanam in their own home towns.

Dr Reddy, who was accompanied by his wife Vijayalakshmi, also watched a seven-minute documentary on Srinivasa Kalyanam.

Later, Tirumala Vedapundits led by Parpattedar Seshadri recited 'Asheeravachanam' and presented 'vastrams' to the Chief Minister.

Earlier, Mr Sarma, Tirumala Vedapandits, TTDs Chennai Advisory Committee President Anandkumar Reddy, secretary Prabhakar Reddy and DPP member, Mr Venkatasharma, AEO T Munaswamy, extended traditional welcome to the Chief Minister at the TTDs information, the release added.
