ABB invests 20 M dollars in new units in Haridwar, Nasik
Bangalore, Mar 15 (UNI) Maintaining its investment plans in India on course, power giant ABB is building two new units in Haridwar and Nasik to enhance its capacities and launch new power components in the country at a cost of 20 million dollars.
The investment, part of the 100 million Dollar investment announced in 2004, would see setting up of a new Low Voltage Distribution Electricals Unit in Haridwar that would go on stream during the third quarter of this year, ABB Group CEO Fred Kindle told newspersons here today.
The Vacuum Interrupter plant, coming up at Nasik, would start production early next year. The two units together would provide an additional employment of about 400 people, ABB India Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Ravi Uppal said.
Mr Kindle said ABB had completed investment of 50 million Dollars and the balance would be invested before early 2007. The company was planning more investments, but it was too premature to announce the quantum. ''We will continue to expand both our capacity and product range as required,'' he added.
During his visit, Mr Kindle also inaugurated the company's global Operation and Engineering Centre here. The Centre would develop and execute systems and engineering solutions for ABB global automation business, besides serving as a resource base for ABB units around the world.
