52-year-old woman raped in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Mar 15 (UNI) The police here have registered a case against a 35-year-old man for allegedly raping a 52-year-old woman in the presence of her husband in Maliwada locality , police said today.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Navin Chandra Reddy, quoting the complaint filed by victim said, the accused Amjad Sheikh Chand, forcibily took the woman behind a temple and after overpowering the husband raped her late last night.

The couple had come to the city only a few days back from neighbouring Buldhana district and were assisting the priest in the temple at Maliwada locality, Mr Reddy added.

The Chhavni police has registered an offence under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Amjad following a complaint filed by the woman herself today, the police sources said, adding the accused is absconding.
