Vekkaliamman Temple consecration on Mar 17
Tiruchirapalli, Mar 14 (UNI) The 'kumbhabishekam' (consecration) of the ancient 'Vekkaliamman Temple' at Woraiyur here will be performed on March 17.
Temple Executive Officer N Subramanian told UNI today the Sangam-age temple was renovated at a cost of Rs one crore.
The work involved the construction of a three-tier 'Rajagopuram' (temple towers) and four mandapams (halls) for the convenience of the devotees, renovation of the sanctum sanctorum and laying of marble and granite flooring.
All sub-shrines in the temple now sport a new look. The entire work was taken up with donor contribution.
A unique feature of this temple is the main diety Goddess Vekkaliamman does not have a roof over the sanctum sanctorum.
