Vasco holds HASC to goalless draw

Bangalore, Mar 14 (UNI) Vasco Sports Club, Goa, lost an opportunity to move to the second position in the points table as its last match in the league against Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club ended in a goalless draw in the second division ONGC Cup 10th National Football League here today.

Though both the teams were tied with ten points each, the Airmen occupied the second place in the table by virtue of higher goal difference and the Goans had to be content with the third position.

Both the teams qualified for the final round of the league, scheduled to be held here from the third week of April, along with Army XI, topping the table with 13 points.

In a lacklustre match, both the teams missed a few chances as they concentrated on defence. While the host striker Nanda Kumar missed as many as three chances as he was not aiming properly, an attempt by Goan striker Edmilson Santos was well saved by Gumpe Rime in the 85th minute.
