TRS member demands compensation for displaced farmers

Hyderabad, Mar 14 (UNI)The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) today demanded that Andhra Pradesh government must pay compensation for displaced farmers under the Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) pending since four years.

Making a mention in the assembly during the Zero Hour, TRS member Narayanarao Patil said Rs 8 crore compensation was pending and even the High Court had directed the government to pay it within four weeks.

He urged the state government to take immediate steps to comply with the court order.

Meanwhile, Ms Sri Devi of the TDP demanded repairs to the Vattivagu project in Adilabad district which had breeched during last rainy season.

She said during the Zero Hour that though five months had elapsed and she had even gone on hunger strike to highlight the issue, the government had not responded.

Mr M A Gafoor of the CPI(M) demanded 50 percent of the Rs 50 crore income it was getting from the sale of hair for the welfare of the barbers.

He also wanted that the services of music instrumentalists working with different temples must be regularised. He also urged the government to give personal loans of Rs 5,000 to each to barbers.

MR V Venkateswarlu also of CPI(M) complained during the Zero Hour that management of the Heavy Water plant in Aswapuram had not provided to locals as per the agreement.

He said of the 369 displaced persons,only 174 were employed.

Mr Sasidhar Reddy (Janata Party) wanted adequate compensation for the farmers who lost their crops due to the recent hail storm.

Ms Swarna Sudhakar (Congress) demanded an enquiry into the frauds being committed by the managements of ITI colleges.
