SAD has no issue against Congress : Dullo

Anandpur Sahib, Mar 14 (UNI) Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Shamsher Singh Dullo today said the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had no issue at hand to take on the ruling Congress.

Addressing a Congress rally seeking votes for the assembly elections due next year, Mr Dullo said the Congress leadership at the Centre was the well-wisher of the people of Punjab.

''The Akalis wrongly criticise the Congress as the anti-Sikh party,'' he added.

The rally was supposed to be attended by Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh but he could not make it to the venue due to adverse weather conditions.

The PCCI chief highlighting the several achievements'' of the Congress government, said it was only under the leadership of Mr Singh that the Punjab Vidhan Sabha had adopted the Punjab Termination of Agreements Act, which safeguarded the rivers waters of Punjab.

Mr Dullo said that the state government had brought in heavy investment to the state, thus creating a lot of job opportunities for the youth.

Earlier, talking to newspersons, Mr Dullo said there was no need for any action against senior Congress MLA Bir Devinder Singh in the wake of a complaint in which some party MLAs had sought a disciplinary action against him.

''When the MLA has realised there is no need for any action against him,'' he said.

In response to another question, Mr Dullo said that so far no talks were held with any of the Left parties for a truck in the assembly elections.

''The Congress is self-reliant in contesting the elections on its own,'' he said, when asked whether the Congress would like an alliance with the Communist Party of India (CPI).
