Ruling SP MLA wounded in firing, four women wounded

Etawah, Mar 14 (UNI) Samajwadi Party MLA Madan Singh Gautam and four women were wounded in an attack, on the legislator in the Aurraiya district here today.

SSP (Aurraiya) Dharmavir told UNI here that Mr Gautam tried to save a beleagured supporter in the Nandlal Ka Purwa village of Ajit mal area this affernoon. In the subsequent clash with block development committee members Rajlakshami, Pan Kumari and others, Mr Gautam suffered head injury after being hit by the rifle butt of one of his aides.

The SP MLA was later rushed to a hospital in Agra, Mr Dharamvir said. Four women were also injured in the clash, he added.

A criminal case has been registered against eight persons in connection with the incident, Mr Dharamvir said.

Further investigations are on.
