Proposal to beef up security

Tirupati, Mar 14 (UNI) A praposal has been submitted to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) for upgradation of security at the Venkateswara temple at Tirumala to counter terrorist threat, TTD Chief Vigilance and Security Officer Mr Balakrishna said here today.

''We have taken all neccssary measures by deploying armed security guards and quick action teams in and around the temple, Mr Balakrishna told UNI.

To a question, he clarified that he was not consulted by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Security has been beefed up at the temple with the assisstance of Chittoor district police.

He said the TTD Board has given the green signal for acquiring high tech security equipment and scanners.

Asked about the recent TTD budget allocation to the security wing, he said a high level meeting will be held tomorrow to discuss the issue.
