No nomination filed in Haryana for Rajya Sabha election

Chandigarh, Mar 14 (UNI) No nomination to contest the lone seat in the Rajya Sabha from Haryana was filed even today -- the fifth day after the poll process began.

The process of filing of nominations started on March 10 with the issuing of notification by the Election Commission. The seat falls vacant due to the retirement of sitting member, Mr Faqir Chand.

The last date for filing of nominations is March 17. The scrutiny will be held the next day. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 20.

Polling, if necessary will be held on March 28 from 0900 hours to 1600 hours in the old committee room of Haryana Vidhan Sabha secretariat here.
