National Family health survey in 60 villages in Sikkim
Gangtok, Mar 14 (UNI) At least 60 villages of Sikkim will be covered under the national family health survey that will start from the first week of April.
Executive Director of Economic Information Technology, the implementing agency for the survey in West Bengal and Sikkim, Mr A Roy said the villages had already been identified and steps for listing of the household initiated.
But the actual survey would be held from the first week of April and continue for two and half months, he said.
Funded by central government and some international donors, as many as 1,800 women and 800 men would be interviewed by a team of 40 trained personnel who will collect various data during the survey.
Besides the usual information such as infant moratility rate and malnutrition, this time the survey team would also collect blood samples from identified willing persons to test for AIDS/HIV, he said.
