MP demands special package from Centre
Bhopal, Mar 14 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has sought a special package from the Centre in view of nearly Rs 2,500 crore damage to crops due to recent unseasonal rainfall and hailstorm.
Talking to reporters here today after filing in nomination of party members for the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha, Mr Chouhan said, ''The recent natural calamity has badly affected life and property and assessment of loss is underway.'' He said the Centre has been urged to release Rs 1,000 crore as immediate aid.
Thirty-three districts, including Chhatarpur, Narsinghpur, Sidhi, Chhindwara and Burhanpur, were affected due to unseasonal rainfall.
