Minorityism sucicidal for the country : Advani

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) Observing that minorityism is detrimental to the interest of India, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani has said whatever has happened during the last 58 years in the name of minorityism is just suicidal for the country.

It is for the first time that a Ministry of Minorities has been created at the Centre and the Sachar Committee formed to know the socio-economic condition of Muslims, Mr Advani has said in an article published in a weekly magazine.

Mr Advani, who will be shortly undertaking National Intergration Yatra, said the Sachar Committee went to the extent of going for a headcount of Muslims even in the Army.

Mr Advani crticised the Left parties of turning the global Muslim wrath against the defamatory cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad as a movement against US President George W Bush.

''We also feel that religious feelings of anybody should not be hurt, but the Left parties turned the Muslim wrath into a movement against George Bush,'' he added.

Citing further instance of irresponsible attitude of the Left parties, Mr Advani said they kept opposing the idea of India being a nuclear weapon state and supported Iran being a weapon state to such a extent that they started to belittle and insult their own country.

Under the circimstances, Mr Advani said, ''the nationalist forces in the country had a greater responsiblity to shoulder and made the ideology of the first Sirsanghchalak of RSS Guru Golwalkar more relevant.'' UNI YS MA KN2136
