Mian Mir's descendant hails Indo-Pak relations

Moga, Mar 14 (UNI) Pakistani religious leader Sai Chand Pir Quadri, a direct descendant of Mian Mir who laid the foundation stone of Harmandir Sahib, has hailed the peace steps taken by India and Pakistan to bring the people of the two countries closer to each other.

He also appreciated both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf for their intiative in bringing the two countries closer to each other.

Speaking at a civic reception here yesterday, he said he was confident that movement of the people of both the countries would increase further with the easing of visa restrictions.

The civic reception was arranged by Joginder Pal Jain, President Moga Nagar Council. Mr Jain, on behalf of the citizens, honoured all 15 members of the team led by Pir Quadri from Pakistan by presenting 'siropas' (robes of honour).

The holy Quran Sharif was also presented by Mr Jain to Pir Quadri.

Talking to reporters before his departure for New Delhi, Pir Quadri said it was his last wish to pay obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum ofthe Harmandir Sahib.

During his day long visit, Pir Quadri exhibited various sacred articles belonging to Guru Gobind Singh, Guru Arjun Devji and Guru Hargobind which he had brought from Lahore.
