MCD suspends two officers for accepting bribes

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) Taking note of the "TV channel expose" showing two of its officers accepting illegal gratification from a house tax payer, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi today suspended the officers and initiated departemntal proceedings against them.

''Following a sting operation, a TV Channel has shown todasy some scenes of an official from the House Tax department taking illegal gratification from a tax payer. The House tax department officers recognised the said official as M K Verma, Assistant Zonal inspector and Girish Kumar, notice server. In view of the seriousness of the matter, the aforesaid officers have been placed under suspension and regular departmental action ordered against them,''an MCD spokesperson said.

More stringent action was proposed to be taken against the two after the reciept of the detailed report and CD from the TV channel including evidence of twe wrongdoing by the officers, the spokesperson added.
