London based rights group visits Mizoram
Aizawl, Mar 14 (UNI) The Christian Solidarity Worldwide, a London based religious rights group, has recently paid a 'secret' visit to Mizoram.
They discussed matters pertaining to human rights in Mizoram and Myanmar with the Human Rights&Law Network here.
''Their main purpose of visit was to study human rights violations in Myanmar. They sought our cooperation to tell the world how the Myanmar military junta oppresses its people'', said Lalzarliana,coordinator, research&development, HR&LN.
The six-member team was led by CSW honourary president and deputy speaker of the British House of Lords Baroness Cox of Queensbury.
After visiting Champhai, the Indo-Myanmar border area, the team insisted on seeeing HR&LN president Ruatfela Nu, whose activities towards human rights protection has attracted attentions from several national and international level human rights organisations, Lalzarliana said.
''We discussed human rights situation in Myanmar and Mizoram and sought for cooperation'', he added.
