Light rains in Delhi, a wet Holi in offing?
New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) The Capital early this morning experienced lights rains, indicating the possiblity of a 'wet Holi' which could put a dampener on the celebrations of the 'Festival of colours'.
The rain, which began at 0545 hours and was spread across the entire city, was still continuing. About 2.4 mm of rainfall was recorded till 0830 hours, the weather office said.
Though the thick clouds and rainfall led to the minimum temperature rising to 16.4 degree C, from 15 degrees yesterday, the weathermen say the maximum temperature could take a dip today.
And, with the met office forecasting the continuance of rain for the next 24 hours, the capital could this year witness a 'wet Holi', a happening which could put a dampener on the celebrations tomorrow.
This is the third time over the last week that the capital has experienced rainfall. Last Wednesday had witnessed a sudden burst of hailstorm and rain in Delhi after a thick cloud cover enveloped the skyline towards the evening. Delhi was lashed by heavy rains on Saturday.
The sudden turaround of weather, from the scorching conditions the capital has been experiencing since the beginning of February is being attibuted to the influence of an upper air cyclonic storm originating from areas in Rajasthan which has also resulted in fresh rainfall in Himachal and Punjab over the last week.
